Wedding Host and DJ Glasgow
Selena & Kenneth Mooney’s wedding
Selena & Kenneth booked my “Ultimate Wedding Package” for their wedding day on the 20th April 2014 and it was my pleasure to play a part in their big day. They initially contacted me in April 2013 saying they were looking for a bit more than just a DJ. I explained what my Ultimate Wedding package included and they said that was exactly what they were looking for and the booking was confirmed. Over that following year we met and went over all the fine details of time line and who was doing what on the day.
On the day I had the pleasure to meet Peter Macdonald for the first time. He was the celebrant chosen by Selena and Kenneth, and a mighty good choice they made. He was lighthearted and funny and serious at he same time. He engaged the younger in attendance and provided a beautiful ceremony.
The day went by with everything running on time and a great party in the evening finished off a great day.
TESTIMONIAL left by Selena & Kenneth
“Hugh was fantastic as our wedding host, from before the ceremony to the very end of the evening, he showed his enthusiasm to make our day go seamlessly, always available for questions and able to provide an answer using his experience of so many weddings over the years which was of great comfort to both the bride and groom. Keeping the guests entertained for what was a long day is a great skill, also keeping them informed of the schedule and times etc at various points helped a great deal. All in all, we would highly recommend Hugh as a wedding host, he was the glue that held the innumerable amount of pieces that a wedding consists of, together.”
Wedding Disco and Mood-Lighting at Shawlands Park Hotel
Paul & Clare Thomson celebrated their wedding reception at the Shawlands Park Hotel near Larkhall on the 13th July 2013. It was a sun filled day so it will have been perfect for the wedding photographs. I was booked to supply mood-lighting on the day and evening reception entertainment and Clare told me she wanted purple lights round the hall. I arrived early and spaced the lights round the room, 12 were set to stay purple and a further 8 at the dance floor and disco were set to purple during the meal and then set to change to the beat of the lights during the dancing.
Neil the “master of ceremonies” on the day announced the happy couple in to the hall. They were led by a piper straight to the wedding cake. Once the cake was cut and pictures taken they were seated at their place on the top table; the speeches were said and dinner was served.
Once the hall was turned round and the sound and lighting set up the quests were asked back into the hall. I announced Clare and Paul in to the hall for the second time on the day, on to the floor for the first of a lifetime of dances together. halfway through I invited the wedding party to join the bride and groom and on the second song Clare’s dad, John had the honour of a father daughter dance.
The music was varied on the night, from the slosh and 9 to 5 to the latest top 40 and a whole lot of 90s old skool thrown in to a metal jumping dance floor.

Wedding Disco at the Piping Centre
Pamela & Darren Farr celebrated their wedding reception at the National Piping Centre in Glasgow on the 6th July 2013. As usual at this venue I announced them into the hall and straight up to cut the cake. Darren’s Nan baked the cake and another guest Raymond had decorated it. Both were asked to come forward for photographs with the bride and groom. Once the cake formalities were over it was on to the first dance “Robbie Williams – You know me” The wedding party were asked to join in and the party was well and truly started. Pamela had picked the first 5 songs for her day then it was over to me to do my job. We had a few ceilidh tracks on the night and a general mix for everyone. Some guests approached me at the end of the night thanking me for a great mix of songs which is always a good sign that I pitched it right.!

Wedding at the Albert Halls Stirling
Rita & Matthew Howe celebrated their wedding at the Albert Halls in Stirling on the 29th June 2013. It was the lesser hall upstairs, a hall holding about 100 guests and has a large stage for the entertainment to use.
I arrived just before the ceremony and transferred the equipment from the van to the lift area ready for a speedy turn around. It was a fine dry day so once the ceremony was ended everyone went outside for cocktails. I put the equipment on the stage and started setting up as the venue staff turned the room round for the wedding breakfast. I had the equipment setup and the curtains closed in time for Rita and Mathew coming back in to see the room and to have some pictures with the photographer. I asked if they wanted some background music during the meal and this offer was accepted, so I played a selection of music suitable for the occasion.
The guests were led back in to the room and the happy couple were announced back into the room and seated. I then retired down stairs and waited till I was needed again.
The night kicked of with Ceilidh dancing. There was no traditional 1st dance. Rita and Mathew didn’t want to be on the dance floor alone. We had a couple of dances then I started playing music that we had agreed would keep the dance floor moving, and it did. A great night was had by all and the venue staff even helped me to the van with the equipment.. Thanks Lads..!!
Wedding DJ at Eglinton Arms Hotel
Ailsa and Ross Norval’s Wedding Reception was held at the Eglinton Arms Hotel in Eaglesham, South Lanarkshire on the 16th June 2013.
Ailsa’s feet must have been sore the next day; she was never off the dance floor..!! Once again a great night was had in a truly fantastic Best Western venue. The selection of music was varied so that every generation had a shot on the dance floor and as the pictures show, the dance floor was never empty.

Wedding DJ Piersland House Hotel
Rebecca and David Montgomery’s wedding reception was held at the Piersland House Hotel in Troon Ayrshire on the 25th May 2013. The venue is well known for quality food and drink at reasonable prices too I might add. The gardens are spectacular when the Scottish weather is kind to you. And if not there is plenty room in the conservatory area.
The night went well with everyone getting a chance to have a dance on the dance floor and I received good feedback too, see below.

Wedding at the Cruin Bar & Restaurant
Suzanne and Iain Craig’s wedding reception was held at the Cruin Bar & Restaurant on the 26th April 2013. The venue is stunning, right on the banks of Loch Lomond itself and comes complete with very helpful staff.
Suzanne and Iain met in a nightclub in Ibiza and they asked for this kind of atmosphere to be re-created on the night and I was only too delighted to make it happen for them. I had a large lighting rig and a haze machine to create that nightclub atmosphere and it really went down really well. Music was mixed through the night with plenty of the older tunes played so that everyone had their bit of time on the dance floor.
As always I took pictures on the night and they can be seen here.. Suzanne and Iain’s Pictures.
Some feedback from Suzanne and Iain..
You’re the man Shuggy! Honestly couldn’t of picked a better DJ/wedding host in the world. Lights were amazing, songs were amazing, love story was amazing and so was everything else. Every person we spoke to said the DJ was great, what’s his name? So we will be recommending you to everyone! You made our night so special and we’re thankful for that. Can’t really remember the end of the night so we’re looking forward to seeing your pictures 🙂
Thanks again… Mr and Mrs Craig
Wedding Reception in Dumfries
Seamus and Beverley O Dwyer celebrated their wedding in the Easterbrook halls in Dumfries on the 30th March 2013. It was a smooth drive down and when I arrived they were just serving dinner. I noted that there was two halls and that there was two weddings on at the same time, boy it was busy.!
I had met Beverly and her father last July so we knew each other and we had plenty of correspondence and chats on the phone, so we knew how the night was going to go.
The 1st dance got under way as soon as i was set up “Rule the world – Take that” and the wedding party were asked to join in half way through. During the night we had cheese, rock pop and ceilidh too… everyone had their shot on the dance floor and we ended with old blue eyes “Frank Sinatra – New York”
