Selena & Kenneth booked my “Ultimate Wedding Package” for their wedding day on the 20th April 2014 and it was my pleasure to play a part in their big day. They initially contacted me in April 2013 saying they were looking for a bit more than just a DJ. I explained what my Ultimate Wedding package included and they said that was exactly what they were looking for and the booking was confirmed. Over that following year we met and went over all the fine details of time line and who was doing what on the day.
On the day I had the pleasure to meet Peter Macdonald for the first time. He was the celebrant chosen by Selena and Kenneth, and a mighty good choice they made. He was lighthearted and funny and serious at he same time. He engaged the younger in attendance and provided a beautiful ceremony.
The day went by with everything running on time and a great party in the evening finished off a great day.
TESTIMONIAL left by Selena & Kenneth
“Hugh was fantastic as our wedding host, from before the ceremony to the very end of the evening, he showed his enthusiasm to make our day go seamlessly, always available for questions and able to provide an answer using his experience of so many weddings over the years which was of great comfort to both the bride and groom. Keeping the guests entertained for what was a long day is a great skill, also keeping them informed of the schedule and times etc at various points helped a great deal. All in all, we would highly recommend Hugh as a wedding host, he was the glue that held the innumerable amount of pieces that a wedding consists of, together.”
Elaine and Garry celebrated their wedding in the Bothwell Bridge Hotel in Bothwell, Glasgow on the first of March 2014. The hall was decorated lovely and they had a fantastic turnout of friends and family for their special day.
It was my pleasure to introduce Elaine and Garry to the dance floor for their 1st official dance as husband and wife. I presses play and INXS – Never tell us apart played as they swayed to the music. After the 1st dance I invited Elaine’s dad “John” to have the honour of a Father Daughter dance. Everyone commented how sweet it was as they danced round the dance floor to Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow.
The venue is owned by an Italian family “The Martalo” family. They also own the Avonbridge in Hamilton too. both hotels have plenty of reasonable priced rooms. A bit dated but clean and fresh, and I have never had any issues working with them.
Jackie and David Flue to Cyprus to get married deciding to have an evening reception at the National Piping Centre when they returned for all their family and friends. The party night was held on the 23rd November 2013 and the decided to book my services as entertainer on the night. My instructions from Jackie and David was to have an 80s themed night with a ceilidh set before everyone got too drunk. Not a problem..
The newly married couple were announced in to the hall to cut a wedding cake and moved straight on to the first dance “Amazed by Lonestar”.. The night went well and everyone had a good time on the dance floor being taught some ceilidh moves. It was great to get some feedback from them a few days later which you can see below.
” Thank you very much for providing our entertainment at our Evening Wedding Reception at The Piping Centre Glasgow, I will highly recommend your service.
You were very professional from the beginning and made us feel at ease when booking your service.
Not only did myself and David enjoy all the music you played but our guests also have a great night. Thank you for guiding us through the steps of the ceilidh. ”
Karen and Alastair Marshall celebrated their wedding at the Garfield House Hotel in Stepps, Glasgow on the 18th October 2013. It’s a great venue that I entertain at on a regular basis. They have two halls. One small and intimate and the main hall can easily hold over 100 people.
The happy couple were obviously big Michael Buble fans. The first dance as husband and wife was Michael’s version of Close Your Eyes, and there was a lot more of the “Buble” in the play list for the night too. Not to worry, by the end of the night there was music from all Genre’s making sure everyone had some time on the dance floor.
” Hugh really provided everything that we needed and made sure the night ran smoothly. We could not have asked for more and had a great night. ”
Lynne & David McCarter’s wedding reception that was held at Glasgow’s National Piping Centre on the 29th September 2013. It’s an old church transformed into the central place for pipers and piping history, and a great place to hold a party.
Lynne & David‘s night was full of the old classics.. Uptown Girl, Shang a Lang to name a few and everyone had a ball. Don’t take my work for it, watch the video below.
Short Video made from the night can be seen here: Youtube
Jodie & Gary McPhail’s wedding reception was held at the National Piping Centre on the 28th September 2013. The night started off with the announcement of the lovely couple to cut the wedding cake. Once everyone got to take pictures they were invited to the floor to dance together for the first time as husband and wife. Their chosen song was Christina Perri, A Thousand Years. With the formalities over it was time to let your hair down and party and the gusts certainly did that. I played a bit of music for all tastes. Everything from the Temptations to the Killers, everyone had their song played.
” Dear Hugh,Thank you so much for great music to accompany our great wedding! You read the crowd brilliantly. We have and will recommend your service again without hesitation! We hope you had as much fun as we did!Thank you again. Jodie and Gary McPhail x “
Fiona and James first contacted me at the start of 2012. They had talked to John at the Garfield House Hotel and decided that was where they were going to get married. We had a meeting mid March 2012 and discussed what they had in mind and what i could offer them for their very special day. I am delighted to say one week later they booked me to supply the entertainment for their wedding reception on the 21st September 2013.
On the day everyone had a ball From the slosh to the Summer o 69. YMCA to Bits n Pieces.. LOL Everyone had their requests played and lot’s of sore feet at the end of the night. The below feedback made it all the better..
” Hugh, Jamie and I would like to thank you very much for being our DJ at our wedding reception. The music suited both young and old and from what I can gather there were no bums on seats at the end of the night. “
Fiona and Andrew Armour first contacted me in the summer of 2012. They had been looking at the National Piping Centre to have their wedding and decided to go ahead. The venue very kindly recommended my services to the happy couple and we had a meeting to get to know each other.
The meeting with Fiona and Andrew went well and they called me back saying they wanted to book me as the entertainer for their big day.
They said I do on the 14th September 2013 at the National Piping Centre and proceeded to have a great night of laughter, ceilidh dancing and partying the night away. Everyone had a time on the dance floor and a great night was had by all. If you were there why not leave a message below.
Just a wee note from Andrew and I to say thank you for providing the music and entertainment at our wedding on Saturday. We had a fantastic evening and any guests we have spoken to commented on the dance floor being full all evening and how great it was to see this. We had a few guests who had travelled from afar and the Ceilidh set was a great way to get everyone onto the dance floor. The kids loved Candy Man and I know it probably seemed an odd choice but it was great to have a wee dance with our youngest guests.
We would definitely recommend you and use your services again. Thank you again for a great evening.
Joleen & Deborah initially contacted me at the start of 2012 looking for their reception entertainment for their big day in Silverwells. They were looking for a DJ entertainer who could teach and call ceilidh dancing for their reception on the 13th September 2013. The venue had just been opened up in the area and turned in to a function suite and bar restaurant and was new to me. The girls did their homework and booked me 6 days later. The venue was not a large hall, more a number of large rooms. They were using the two suites upstairs. One for the bar etc. and the other with the disco and dancing. They were side by side so if you were at the bar and hears a song you wanted to dance to you could with no problems. Downside for a DJ though you cannot see half the people you are entertaining and makes it hard to judge.
The girls had an intimate reception so the venue was the perfect size for what they wanted and everyone on the day and night had a ball and danced the night away.
” Hi Hugh,
What a fantastic nights entertainment you provided for our special day! You truly brought everyone together with your music!
Deborah and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and can’t thank you enough. Lots of our guests complimented our choice of DJ and I believe if they have any future events they will be hiring you.
What a magical evening. Our dancing shoes were on fire! Thank you so much! I hope to hire you in the future! “
Carlan & John Main chose Glasgow Green as their wedding reception on the 31st August 2013. The venue was the West Brewery which is a very popular watering hole for the area. The venue has a small intimate room off the bar area that is perfect for small weddings and it was perfect for Carlan & John Main’s very special day.
The happy couple chose to break from the usual tradition. Carlan wore a lovely red dress with John keeping in with the colour scheme with his red tie. They were rockers through and through, and so were their friends and family. It’s fair to say everyone was metal fans on the day and the music had air guitars all over the place. Great night was had by everyone.
