Wedding Reception Disco in Kilmarnock
The weather forecast for yesterday was rain, rain, and more rain.. What a shame I thought, but rain on your wedding day is I am told a form of good luck…!! Went out to the van to leave about mid-day and I was happy to see it dry..! YES I thought.. As I was driving down the M77 the heavens opened up and the rain was exceptionally heavy, so much so that everyone had to slow down and have the wipers on full speed. I was gutted for the couple….!! When I arrived at the venue I was surprised to see that not only was it dry, but the sun had come out and I wondered, how long is this going to last? I got the van emptied as quickly as I could thinking what luck getting it all in dry, and then started setting up on the stage.
The 17th September 2011 was Patricia and Vincent Barrie’s wedding day and they were getting married in St. Joseph’s church in Kilmarnock at 3.00pm. I was set up in the church hall with background music running and the caterers had the tables all set well before the required time. I took a look out to see the bride arrive and could not believe that it had stayed dry for her, boy she must have been pleased. Once they entered the church it was just a case of sit back and wait.
The church started to empty and enter into the hall for a drink and chat while the bride and groom spent some time with the photographer outside making full use of the sunlit sky.
After the speeches and food it was time to change the room about as quickly as possible to make room for the evening guests. I played a selection of 80s music up to the first dance which was about 8.00pm. I announced the new couple on to the floor and hit play to “lonestar – Amazed” and half way through I asked the rest of the bridal party to join in with them on the dance floor.
The night went well and everyone was on the floor for the final song at the end of the night “Rinrig – Loch Lomond”. I wished Patricia and Vincent all the best and everyone left promptly.
