Wedding Disco at Stirling Highland Hotel
I left the house just before 5.00pm on the 30th July 2011 to get to Philip and Claire Mullane’s Wedding Reception in the Stirling Highland Hotel expecting the long slog up the A80 at 40Mph, what a breath of fresh air to find that it was all finished and I was able to sit at 70Mph on the new motorway.
Anyway, I got there a little early and went to the reception to let them know that I was there and register my van registration number for the parking. I was very lucky to be able to park right next to my entrance to the hall so I didn’t need to use my trolley at all.
So I started to set up in the hall and asked the venue manager how far on they were to be told that they were serving deserts….! And I thought I was early..??
I had all the kit setup, empty boxes in the van and playing background music for 6.50pm and as I told the venue manager I would be ready for 7.00pm I was right on time. The guests started coming though and I went looking for the bride and groom….. Claire was awesome, a lovely dress with a green lace pattern on the back which carried through to the trail, to me the dress had a distinctive ceilidh look to it, and Philip was in a traditional Scottish kilt. I had not met the couple before the wedding however we hit off straight away and they were very welcoming to me.
Through the night my first impressions proved correct again, the couple were made for each other and were absolutely in love with each other, they were on the dance floor all night long no matter what I played. We had a ceilidh section at the start of the night too and the couple went round the tables making sure everyone was encouraged to get involved in the Scottish country dancing.
I was initially booked till 1.00am which I always think is too long for a wedding, but some families are up for it, but Claire was totally knackered by midnight so I was asked to play the last two songs at 12.20am an call it a day.
I wished them all the best, packed up and went home to unwind….
