Wedding at the Carnbooth House Hotel
On the middle of July you would expect a lovely summers day, but not on the 16th July 2011, it saw a heavy rain storm coming in from the west that rained a whole lot of good luck on to Karen and Jamie Forrest on their wedding day. Thankfully it did clear up for a while to get some much needed wedding photographs outside in the magnificent gardens.
This was my first opportunity to supply the wedding entertainment in the Carnbooth House Hotel and I have to say what a gem of a find, and what’s more it’s only a 10 minute drive from my house. Sitting off the Carmunock bypass near Busby it couldn’t be easier to find and what an investment the owners have made. Carnbooth House is an old country house that has invested in a permanent marquee on its grounds that is tailored especially for the wedding market. On the day I worked with a chap called “Paul” the duty manager on the day, and both he and his staff could not have been more accommodating or acted more professional towards me. It really was a good experience for me on the day.
Once the dinner was completed Paul asked everyone to move in to the main house for drinks while his staff turned round the hall for the evening reception and to give me a chance to set up the disco, so we all got to work. For me as a DJ it was very easy access “makes a change” and I got the disco set up as quickly as I could. Once we were finished the guests were asked to come back in to the marquee.
The first dance was announced by Paul and I pressed play as Karen and Jamie stepped on to the dance floor “Frank Sinatra – Fly me to the moon” and I asked the rest of the bridal party to join them half way through the song. Once the formal dances were completed those present danced away on the dance floor happily up to about 9.30pm when Karen and Jamie had a surprise visit from the Neilston & District Pipes and Drums Band. Paul announced them in to the hall to a fabulous reception from the bride and grooms guests, and they played for about 20 minutes and left. I then played bouncy tunes and filled the floor for the rest of the night.
Were you there on the night…?
If so why don’t you leave a message here for Karen and Jamie to see when they get back from their honeymoon..?
